And the general reporting is that the job was done at 13 seconds into the fight, but the year-old doesn't agree at all.
What I say happens, happens. I felt like last fight week was gone before I could embrace it, but this time I took it in. The Irish are making the fight game what it is today. I think Aldo should reassess himself while I look to maybe go for the pound belt or maybe I look at Frankie, so there are options.
I showed up tonight and put a stamp on the real belt, there is no doubt now.
Thanks to everyone watching in Brazil and thank you for the support. I will be back.
Chris being the champ he is came back hard in the fourth round, but I got the job done. Give him to me, Dana!
He caught me with those elbows. All I can do now is work hard and get back in the gym. They all talk their fights up, but he does it more than most and few can really live up it.
The fastest finish in title fight history. He was a phenomenal champion. He deserved to go a little bit longer but at the end of the day, precision beats power and timing beats speed. No speed, just timing. These are fundamentals.
He also said it was not really a fight and you can see his point. For all the hype and build-up, it was over before it even began.
That is truly unbelievable. This fight was never going to let us down, but no one can have predicted that. Neither do I! Judging by the walk-ons, McGregor has the backing of the fans. Aldo out to a whole lot of boos. The Brazilian seems the more pumped up. McGregor quite calm. By his standards, anyway.
The pair refuse to touch gloves. And it is on! And he will. Even though he looks unrecognisable right now. Anyway, we have one new champion.
Will we have another? Rockhold defended it, took him down and just went to town on him. Brilliant performance from Rockhold! Weidman never recovered and more ground and pound from Rockhold finished the job.
Battered, bloodied and bruised, the fight was only going one way from there. Great fight, great performance, deserved champion. Rockhold almost wins it!
Weidman grew back into the fight and was probably taking the round but Rockhold took him down and just unloaded on him. Full credit to Herb Dean for letting that go. Weidman was just eating punches and elbows and is badly busted up. Huge round for Rockhold. Great second round for Rockhold.
Weidman took so many hard kicks to the body. His corner were doing their best to wake him up but that was all Rockhold. Really impressive turnaround from Rockhold after a tough opening two minutes to the fight.
Felt like Weidman nicked it but Rockhold fought back excellently, making good attempts at a guillotine with the All-American just about keeping himself safe. So then, 5am and still two left.
Chris Weidman vs Luke Rockhold. Really highlights the strength of the card. The undefeated Weidman goes into this as deserved favourite. Can Luke Rockhold do what Anderson Silva failed to do twice!
Can he do what Lyoto Machida failed to do? Can he do what Vitor Belfort failed to do? He looks at Weidman being in trouble against both Machida and Belfort. Weidman probably looks that he managed to recover and win both.
